In Melbourne's Autumn sunshine, I took these Wedding Photos at Bram Leigh Receptions Croydon. The Wedding Photography shown here was for Melbourne couple Jess and Rob. I only met Rob the day before the wedding, and I met Jess as she stepped from the bridal car to the Bram Leigh Chapel, to be married to Rob. The light outside was quite intense, and our Hollywood Lighting came into play, to balance the dynamic range - "lightness and darkness" to most readers!
The judicious use of lighting is quite evident in the photo of Jess seated at the piano in Bram Leigh's Atrium - see how the detail is preserved in the outdoor garden blasted by strong sun, and gently lit but supplemental light indoors, keeping the attention on the bride. These photos are NOT edited for exposure correction in post processing. As always, one of my mantras "get it right first time" couldn't apply more emphatically than it does to wedding photography. Not just "an idea", but an absolute understanding and mastery of light and lighting systems, and being able to bring it all together in the narrow wedding photography window is a crucial - yet often missing - skill of "digital age" wedding photographers.
