Last weekend I photographed a wedding at Whitechapel in Langwarrin, a venue I have been shooting at for decades, since the days when Norman and Jillian Haines owned it, and the venue was called Sha'ron.
Well, on this day I was glad I had an intimate knowledge of the venue. The date of this wedding was 6th March 2010, and if you don't remember that day... it was the day of the golf ball sized hailstones in Melbourne. What to do when the weather is like this?
Shoot on, don't hold back, of course!
An advantage of using professional equipment is that it can shoot in conditions like this, the kinds of weather conditions that would send most photographers running for cover like rabbits for burrows, not wanting to risk their precious gear.
Our philosophy at Wilderness Images is different... the couples are not concerned about our gear - they engage a professional studio such as ours to deliver the goods - and not go hiding indoors.
Whitechapel has always been one of those venues - one of those venues that offers something different in a wedding reception venue. It suits our style of photography. You don't have to step out very far to be in nature, in a natural environment, and there are just the right number of props and sets to keep you busy and provide lots of visual interest to your wedding photos.
